UK Marine Consultants Limited is an independent marine consultancy based in North West England / North East Wales and operating worldwide. We provide surveying services and expert advice on marine engineering matters to the shipping and insurance industries, such as ship owners, ship managers, P&I Clubs, hull and machinery underwriters, average adjusters, lawyers, ship's agents, charterers, and ship yards.

The company was set up in November 2009 by Neil Griffiths, an independent consultant and surveyor who was previously a partner with a UK-based firm of consultants and surveyors, for whom he worked for over six years. Having served as a chief engineer in the UK merchant fleet, Neil obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Marine Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Marine and Offshore Engineering. He has 15 years experience in the merchant navy and has also worked as a superintendent. The work as a superintendent included day-to-day running of vessels in the UK merchant fleet, together with experience of new buildings, and sale and purchase. Neil is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology.
At present, the company only has one consultant and surveyor. UK Marine Consultants Limited work in conjunction with similar consultants and surveyors based in the UK. In the event that we are unable to undertake a task, we will be happy to make a recommendation for obtaining a suitable alternative.
The ethos for UK Marine Consultants Limited is to provide independent advice at reasonable cost. We aim to be succinct with our initial reporting, expanding on the key aspects at a later stage if required by the client. Our rates are maintained at reasonable levels by effectively managing our overheads.
